Qatar Medical Physics Society (QaMPS) in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) organized a workshop for Medical Radiation workers of Qatar consecutively for the third year under the title of “Workshop of Radiation Protection in Nuclear Medicine”. This was held on 31st October 2020 in Doha, Qatar. The workshop was attended by Physicians, Medical Physicists, Technicians, Technologists and Nurses involved in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT.

Dr. Huda Al Naemi, President of QaMPS, opened the workshop and welcomed the speakers Dr. Henry Fielding - Medical Physics Expert with vast experience in the field from Canada, Kuwait and Saudia Arabia with positive contribution to international organizations, Dr. Hadi Fayad - Medical Physicist at HMC, Dr. Ghulam Syed - Senior Consultant and Section Head Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT at HMC , Mr. Mahmoud Tarabieh - Head Health Physicists, OHS, HMC.

 

The workshop was attended by 40 participants. The programme highlights topics about Imaging in Nuclear Medicine: PET/CT and SPECT/CT Physics, I-131 Therapy in HMC, The Use of Rubidium for Cardiac Application in Nuclear Medicine, Dose Calculation and Optimization, Radiation Protection in Nuclear Medicine, Practical Training on Radiation Protection, Radiation Emergencies Response and Preparedness.

 

The feedback of the workshop was very good, and the audience was very satisfied with the education session.
